Air Command is the only command currently active in the Royal Air Force.

The formation of Air Command was announced to Parliament by the Defence Secretary, Rt Hon Des Browne on 15 March 2007. Air Command was formed by the merger of Royal Air Force Strike and Personnel and Training Commands on 1 April 2007.

The Defence Secretary confirmed that the Command, headquartered at RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, would have a single Commander-in-Chief and two deputies. The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief is Air Chief Marshal Sir Clive Loader, in post since the command was formed, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Operations) is Air Marshal Iain McNicoll, and the Deputy Commander-in-Chief (Personnel) & Air Member for Personnel is Air Marshal Stephen Dalton. The Command consists of Nos 1, 2 and 22 Groups.
