Satoshi Tomiie is a Japanese house music producer and DJ. He has written music for numerous soundtracks, including for the "Animatrix" soundtrack and remixed many artists including The Future Sound of London.

History

At an early age, his parents encouraged him to play the piano, and he was involved in various bands throughout high school as his fascination with music, especially jazz, increased. Later, he became interested in hip hop and DJ'ing, and was eventually asked by a Japanese cosmetics company to collaborate by creating a track for an upcoming Frankie Knuckles show. The veteran recognized Tomiie's potential, and the result was "Tears", a house classic.

Seeing the opportunity, the fledgling DJ moved to New York and found that even though he had been acclaimed in Japan, the competition in the United States was much more difficult. However, he joined the Def Mix crew and grew to become recognized as one of the top DJs in the world, and often tours to prominent international clubs. In 2000 he created his first CD for Sony, "Full Lick", which was a smash success, especially in England.

Tomiie has a long résumé of remixes and original productions, and has released several DJ mixes including "Nubreed 006" on Boxed. He is the owner of house music record label Saw Recordings.
