Kosovska Kamenica or Kamenica (Albanian: Kamenica or Dardana; Serbian: Косовска Каменица, Kosovska Kamenica) is a town and municipality in the Gnjilane district of eastern Kosovo.[note 1]

Geography and population

In 2011, Kosovska Kamenica municipality was estimated to have 35,600 citizens.

Kosovska Kamenica is the most eastern of Kosovo's municipalities. Currently the population is approximately 74% Kosovo Albanian and 23% Kosovo Serb with a small number of Roma.

  1. ^ a b Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. The latter declared independence on 17 February 2008, while Serbia claims it as part of its own sovereign territory. Its independence is recognised by 85 UN member states.
